Abstract(2053) PDF 389KB(1009)
Abstract:
The quasi-steady structures in the corotating solar-terrestrial disturbances and their phase reversal reappear in the solar cycle 21 and 22,which confirms that the above phefiomenon found by the authors is a regular feature occurring on a time scale of one century. Moreover, the geomagnetic disturbance data covering the past one hundred years up to 1991-1992 indicated that the quasi-steady corotating structure in the even cycles tends to drift linearly in peak against solar rotation.Atentative prediction is made for the corotating disturbances which may appear in the forthcoming pre-minimum years.

Abstract:
Solution of MHD Riemann problem has a signficant implication to the study of the evolutional tendency of disturbances and the:interaction between shocks in the interplanetary space.Based on the assumption that a MHD coplanar discontinuity can be decomposed into a combination of forward and reverse shocks of fast and slow modes, centrical simple waves, and contact surfaces, this paper presents a three-parameter iteration method in solving MHD coplanar Riemann problems, applies this method to implement the decomposition of pure normal velocity discontinuities, and examines preliminarily the applicability of the method..

Abstract:
A method of reconstructing phase trajectories by means of the time series data of ionosphere is given in iLls paper. It is found that the phase locus can perfectly characterize the complicated behavib:tirs if the patamdters. In the end of the paper.a phase space similarity model and a regression model fad the parameter's prediction is suggested according to the features of the phase orbit.Using the f0F2 and M(3000)F2 data of Haikou(20°2'N,102°20'E) to these models, the satifactory results predicted by them are shown.

Abstract(2211) PDF 495KB(848)
Abstract:
Responses of ionospheric F2 peak to three types of meridional winds, namely constant winds,Servo Model-based winds and HWM-90 winds, are investigated numerically for Wuchang (30.5'N,114.4"E) and Wakkanai(45°5,N,141.7°E),with the help of a theoretical model for one-dimensional and time dependent ionospheric profile. The results indicate thats(1) the response is north-south and day-night asymmetrical, and the latitudinal difference is obvious as can be expected. It shows that within an actual atmosphere background, the ionosphere-ther.mosph#re may be strongly coupled through the neutral wind.(2) The Servo Model-based meridional wind is verified to be reasonable and reliable.(3) HWM-90 gives a passable description of the meridional wind for the two stations concened, while it looks not so good as the Servo Model-based wind.

1995, 15(2): 116-125. doi: 10.11728/cjss1995.02.116
Abstract:
Analysis and calculations are given for efficiencies of different sources in generating atmospheric acoustic-gravity waves. It is shown that the relative efficiencies of different sources quite different and depend on frequency, distance and orientation of.the sources and different parameters of the wave For the two sources of aurora electrojets,i.e.Lorentz force and Joule heating,it is shown that in the regions near the auroral the efficiency of Lorentz force in generating the wave fluctuation is much higher than the Joule heating. In the distant region along the plane of auroral electrojets,Joule heating is' much more-efficient than the Loren.tz force except for the velocity fluctuation- In the distant region.along the normal direction of the jets' plane, the efficiency of Lorentz force is much higher.

Abstract(1882) PDF 395KB(741)
Abstract:
The effects of space-charge on the measurement of plasma space potential by an cmissive probe are studied experimentally,to find a better method to determine the plasma space potential. It is indicated that the bias voltage at which the emission current become zero should be the plasma space potential.

Abstract:
In this paper a brief introduction of the arc discharges is presented. The arc discharge is caused by the interaction of the negatively biased parts of a high voltage solar array with space plasma.Apart of experimental results and an extended theory by Hastings et al.have been applied to calculate the arc discharge of ahigh voltage solar array.

Abstract(1950) PDF 378KB(1397)
Abstract:
Power spectra are calculated for the amplitude scintillation of VHFsignal at an equatorial station,Haikou.Theoretical simulation is also performed.Alot of set-ntillation events last for a long time.Temporal variation of amplitude scintillations arising due to the presence of irregularities in the night time equatorial Fregion is studied during the early and late stages of evolution of these irregularities. The higher frequency portion of the power spectra in the late stage are found to be steeper than these in the early stage. It can be attributed to the decay of irregularities with wavelength of several hundred meters in the late stage. The higher irregularity drift speed is found in the late phase.

Abstract(1970) PDF 479KB(884)
Abstract:
Using phase and amplitude recordings of the 100 kHz Sky wave signal received in Wuchang(30.3°N,114.2°E) during winter in 1985 and 1986,a study of planetary-scale wave disturbance and their vertical propagation is made by use of wavelet analysis. It shows that there are mainly distinct disturbances of planetary-scale wave with period from 5 to 10 days and from 10 to 20 days at different altitudes of 75 km and 95 km respectively. The perturbing amplitudes increase with height,[and their increasement are smaller than those of theoretical'estimations. In addition, there is a similar tendency for the change of disturbance of either at 75 km or at 95 km.According to the propagation theory and related experimental data,planetary-scale waves with vertical wavelengths of the order of 40 to 60 km and a velocity of about 2.7-3.7 km per day appear to travel in the vertical direction.

Abstract(1905) PDF 489KB(664)
Abstract:
This paper studies the propagation characteristics of inertial gravity waves in tEe mesosphere using VHF'radar observation data at And.ya(69°N,10°E), Norway June 1987.Several observed examples show quasi-monochromatic wave fluctuations with certain phase progressions.Their periods are several hours, indicating they are inertial gravity waves. The horizontal wave veCtors are estimate.d by analysingthe variations of eastward and northward components of wave-associated fluid velocity. The estimated horizontal wave vectors are typical values observed in mesosphere.Three inertial gravity waves with upward phase progression are also observed.their horizontal wave-associated fluctuation velocities show an anti-clockwise elliptical rotation with increasing lieiglit. The wave-associated fluctuation velocities are 15-40 m/s,illustrating that there exists significant downward wave energy flux.Their kinematical parameters are estimated:period is several hours, vertical phase velocity is from 0.1 to 0.6 m/s,vertical wave length is about 6 km.
