The Chinese Journal of Space Science (CJSS) is an academic, authoritative, forward-looking periodical publication founded in 1981. Under the leadership of successive chief editors and editorial boards, we have been working hard to present new advancements in space science and technology in China and serve science workers. In order to support the healthy development of the journal and enhance its academic quality and influence, the first working meeting of the 9th editorial board was held in Beijing on September 26, 2022.

The meeting was a combination of online and offline events, chaired by Wu Ji, editor in chief of CJSS, president of the Chinese Society for Space Research (CSSR) and Researcher of the National Space Science Center, CAS, and attended by 67 persons including: CJSS deputy editor in chief of Prof. Cao Jinbin, Researcher Lin Yangting, Prof. Fu Suiyan, Researcher Lin Baojun, Zhang Shuangnan, Kang Qi; CSSR secretarial-general, Researcher Sun Lilin; responsible editorial board members of  Researcher Zhang Bing, Zhao Jianfu, Fan Yizhong, Zhang Xiaomin, Prof. Zhang Zexu Shi Quanqi and other editorial board members and the editorial office staffs.

In his address, Wu Ji welcomed and thanked all editorial board members, affirmed the contribution of the eighth editorial board for the journal over the past five years, announced the “Notice on appointing members to the ninth editorial board of CJSS”, and presentedthe appointment certifications to the deputy editors in chief, responsible editorial board members and editorial members present at the meeting.

Director of the editorial office, Dr. Sun Weiying reported to the ninth editorial board about the editorial and publishing work of the journal, with emphasis on the situation of the journal since its establishment, the subject trend in space science domain, publications made by the journal and counterparts, influence and disciplinary contributions of published papers, existing problems and challenges, future prospects and focus of work of the journal in the near term.

Then, Dr. Sun Weiying and Dr. Song Yana presented to the 9th editorial board the “Term targets of the 9th  editorial board of CJSS”, “Working rules of the CJSS editorial board”, “Method of appraising excellent papers on CJSS”, and “Progresses of CJSS in digitalization”. The Editorial Board members at the meeting discussed the presentations and raised opinions and suggestions on what contributions are expected, how to improve the influence of papers, and how to appraise excellent papers. The presentations were all adopted.

Finally, Wu Ji thanked the editorial board members for their constructive opinions and suggestions and hoped new developments and progresses will be made with their strong support. The meeting ended with warm applause.
